Des Moines and Long Lake Statewide Pilot Project Update

The project organizers (Burnett County, DNR and University of WI Extension) have almost completed the initial survey on our lake. The purpose of the shoreline survey is to identify potential practices that might improve conditions on the lake and to establish a baseline of these conditions before the project begins. Logistically, it involves cruising in a boat, taking digital photos and recording information about each parcel. The survey is in no way related to enforcement of existing regulations. The reason is to see what conditions are in order to know what to do and in the end to know if the project was successful.
